Also, happy fun times await me, for the G.R.E. (Graduate Record Exam) is fast approaching, and I'm currently busy studying.  If I pass, I will (probably) be accepted into graduate school!

If not... then I guess I'll have to try again later.

Aah, I remember when I said I'd be updating my journal every month.  What foolish folly that was.

Well, I got that new rig, and 'tis a beauty.  It's what allowed me to create that CG Mewtwo to the left of this journal.

So far this summer, I've been trying to finish up some graphics for my independent study course, and it's taking just a leeeeetle longer than I expected.  After that, I'm knuckling down to creating a piece for my CG portfolio.

Today is my little brother's birthday!  He's turned 20, so that's awesome.  He's also earned his Eagle rank in Boy Scouts, which means we're now two for two, since I got my Eagle a while ago.  He's had, I guess you could call it "special dispensation" to have an extra 2 years added on to the deadline for getting Eagle, on account of him being autistic, but I never had any doubt he could do it.  He's got even more merit badges than I did (and by no small margin, either!), though he did have more time to get them... <_<

In other birthday-related developments, I'll be turning 23 in four days.  Whoop-dee-friggin'-doo, right?  To be honest, since turning 21, I'm not even sure it's worth it to celebrate birthdays anymore.  When people ask me "Age?" I actually have to think for a second before I remember.  Hmm, this may be more a sign of catastrophic memory loss than just simply not caring.

I'm still gaming, of course, but I think I've pretty much dropped World of Warcraft for good (hah, where have I heard that before?)  Of course, as soon as I'm done with my independent study work this summer, I plan on jumping into Lord of the Rings Online, which looks like it has a MUCH better community at first glance.  Of course, the real thing I'm looking forward to is the recently announced Final Fantasy XIV (14!), which is going to be Square-Enix's second foray into the world of Massively Multiplayer Online RPGs.  I pray to the almighty God that they've learned from their past mistakes with FFXI.

Well, it's been quite a while since I updated this thing.  I remember wanting to have an update every 1st of the month... so much for that!

I hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas.  Family, friends and hot cider; definitely the best time of the year.  I was unfortunate enough this year to miss my family Christmas party because of a Saturday afternoon Physics exam, so that was a pretty serious bummer.  Christmas didn't feel quite complete without it.  Ah well, we're having a follow-up party sometime in January, so at least I'll get to see everyone eventually!

As for gifts, I did pretty well, if I do say so myself.  Got the Wii version of "Sonic Unleashed" (which actually isn't nearly as bad as I've been hearing), an iPod Nano engraved with my mock title ("The Miguel"), and a freakin' sweet 22" widescreen monitor.  Now I can actually SEE WHAT I'M DOING when I'm working in Maya and Photoshop!  It's a shame that my wimpy little laptop seems to have trouble handling it, though.  Thankfully, I think I've just about got enough dough saved up to get myself a middle-to-high range desktop computer.

So, anyway, I hope you all had a Merry Christmas and that you have a Happy New Year!

Well, today is the day my driving license expires!  Oh, and it's also my birthday.

So yeah.  I renewed my license, replacing the horrible picture of me with an even WORSE one, and also registered to vote (finally).  Pretty boring day so far.  We're going out to eat later tonight, but that's about it - we went to see WALL-E for my little brother's birthday four days ago and no other movies out at the moment look like they're worth the price of the ticket.

Oh, speaking of which, it's plug time: if you haven't seen WALL-E, please do so at your earliest convenience.  It's an excellent flick.  Plenty of Pixar-goodness; amazing artistry, great humor, engaging story and a surprising moral.  When the credits began to roll, the audience was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.  Why, you ask?  They were thinking.

People I'm Watching

Why hello there!  It's been a while since I updated my journal... and now that I'm finally updating it, I don't have anything to update it with!  Go figure, eh?

I've been extremely busy with my classes this semester, mostly the computer graphics courses, which require me to sketch and work in photoshop and all sorts of stuff like that.  I may be posting some of that stuff at some point, but it's not all that great, really.

I CANNOT WAIT for Super Smash Bros. Brawl.  I am so stoked for that game.  Sadly, I didn't pre-order it, so I'll probably have to wait a while before I can play it.  Not that big a deal, really.  I'll get my hands on a copy eventually.

Oh, and I started playing World of Warcraft again.  Laugh if you will, but it really is like crack.  I took a two month break, and then the pull was too great to resist, and I returned.  That, apart from my classes, is what's draining most of my time, I'm ashamed to say.  Ah well.
